Is Micromax Canvas 4 a Worth Buy?

Has Micromax launched the 3rd Successful Smartphone? In the past, Micromax has impressed with the two of their phones, Canvas 2 and the Canvas HD. They were quite successful in their respective price brackets. Micromax has recently launched the newest flagship Smartphone in India, the Micromax Canvas 4. After receiving tons of mails, and messages to provide the review, here is the review of Canvas 4.

Being the flagship for the company, it got a very good response after the release on 8th July. Take a look at some main features.

Micromax Canvas 4

Features Of Canvas 4

The Micromax is an Android Smartphone with a 5-inch 720p IPS display, a MediaTek quad-core CP along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in storage. It features 13MP camera and Vanilla Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

The User Interface of the Canvas 4 is a stock Android. However you can get the Micromax added apps on the phone. Apart from the features you have access to a chunk of Micromax specific applications.

Pause on Look Away

Pause On The Look Away

Micromax has bundled a Video Player app that offers features like ‘Pause on look away‘ using the front facing camera which is seen on high-end phones like the LG Optimus G Pro and the Galaxy S4.

The Camera

The 13MP camera is simply awesome with LED flash. It is capable of taking Video at 1080 pixels i.e. Full HD. There’s a secondary 5MP front facing camera which also offers an HD video recording.

Additional features include Touch focus, Geo tagging, face and smile detection, advance shooting experience, and four direction panorama.

Performance

Hardware:

Here’s a quick glance of hardware to see how it compares to the competition.

When compared to its predecessor, the Canvas 4 specs are improved. Sure, you’ll get the more built-in storage, the better camera, but that’s all about it.

Looking at the competition, rather than using the MediaTek MT6589 chipset, which is the same as seen in the Canvas HD, the Canvas 4 might have used the MediaTek MT 6589T (Turbo version of chipset). This would give the device better graphics as well as a 1.5GHz clocked quad core processor. This definitely would enhance the performance of the device.

Battery:

Canvas 4 is powered by a 2,000mAh battery capacity. The Smartphone runs a whole day on average.

Pros:

  • Nice & pleasant design

  • Crisp display

  • Smooth multitasking

  • Added software features work well

  • Useful Micromax apps and content

  • Useful gesture controls

  • Decent camera

Cons:

  • Fingerprint friendly

Final Word

Apart from the better camera and slightly improved build quality, it doesn’t bring anything extra ordinary. The only thing we noticed is the large internal storage capacity, in which users will be able to install more apps.

Being the Flagship Smartphone from Micromax, this Canvas 4 comes with with the price tag of Rs 17,000. Given the tag of affordable innovation, it is still the best pick under 20k range.
