Unlocked Moto G (2014) owners can download the Android 5.0 update now

Motorola said it would be quick to update the Moto X (2014) and Moto G (2014) once Android Lollipop landed, and it has done just that. Over the last week, Motorola had been soak-testing Android Lollipop on both the new Moto X and new Moto G. The initial rollout seems to have proved successful, as now the OTA update is spreading further and wider across North America, with the rest of the world following shortly.

Android Lollipop brings a number of new additions to the omnipresent smartphone operating system, such as improved security features, better battery life, and the long-awaited "lock screen notifications". Head to Settings > About Phone > Software Update and see if your Moto G (2014) is ready for the update.

Don't forget, you can learn which phones will be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in our dedicated article.

Have you downloaded Lollipop on your device yet?
